Gong is the raw feed. The work is turning calls into structured product signal before the thread goes stale. A summary without account context is just another document to ignore.

Using Claude Code to write a summary of each post and scrolling through the long summaries from each of them is the PM version of false productivity: it feels like signal capture, but it’s really a coping mechanism that breaks once call volume rises.

  3. Normalized requirement
  4. Deal stage
  5. Revenue at stake

Then score:

  1. Confidence (explicit blocker vs vague preference)
  2. Severity (nice-to-have, expansion lever, deal blocker)

And require source traceability (timestamp + quote) for every normalized requirement.

Why Manual Breaks at Scale

Throughput math gets ugly fast, but fidelity collapse is worse:

  • Reviewers skim and miss quieter, high-signal context.
  • Ambiguous mentions get over-classified as hard requests.
  • Confidence scores inflate and stop being useful.

At enterprise scale, this becomes roadmap error that shows up as avoidable deal loss.

What Actually Works

A reliable system runs this sequence:

  1. Extract verbatim evidence from transcripts
  2. Cluster to stable canonical requirements
  3. Grade urgency from language strength
  4. Map each requirement to live deal value

The output should be a ranked requirement list by revenue at risk, with confidence and source-linked evidence.
